How Can Something You Love Make You So Sick?

Ed, Lisa and I went to Gulfport yesterday to spend the day. Before we came back to Magee, we stopped at Chilis to eat supper.

We went inside, ordered appetizers and everything was great. The appetizers came and we ate. While sitting there waiting on our meals, I got VERY queasy. The smell of the restaurant was ovewhelming to me suddenly.

Needless to say, I had to get up and go find the bathroom. Lisa followed behind me and was such a sweetie while I was having a terrible episode of morning sickness at 8 PM.

Since that has happened, being pregnant is sinking in. I just don't get it tho. I don't see how something that I really do like can make me so sick..... It does not make sense to me.

But yeah I had my first actual morning sickness and there was no holding it back.. AT ALL!!

Pregnancy Nausea and Other Fun Stuff!

UGH nausea is kicking my butt this morning. While I have not actually puked, I feel like I could. My stomach has been churning all morning. I even have my hair pulled back in the event that I cannot fight it any longer. It's terrible. I hate to throw up. But then again, is there anyone that enjoys it?

This morning I have been having hot flashes, I have been dizzy and I thought I was gonna puke big time. It's not any fun.

I have a ton to do and yet I am sitting here nursing my nausea and dizzyness. My a/c is set on 60 degrees and I am sweating. I don't remember my other two pregnancies being this bad this early. Maybe it has something to do with my age?

I am going to Mississippi today. That is, when I feel like it's safe to get up and pack rather than puke.

Send me non nausea wishes!!

Pregnancy Week 7

Week 7 of this pregnancy is here!

How do I feel?

Well, I am extremely sleepy. Not so pukey feeling anymore, and I need to buy some elastic waist jeans. My jeans are all ready tight in the tummy. I am sure the Mexican Food I have been having at least once a day is not helping matters either. So, I have been running around in my Capri sweatpants, and a pair of khaki stretchy Capri's. I miss my jeans and I also froze this weekend when the weather was cool on Sunday.

Ed and I did manage to go and buy a few baby things this weekend. However, we did not make it to Carter's or Osh Kosh B'Gosh. Both times when we drove to Vicksburg the mall was all ready closed. So, we went shopping at walmart instead.

I tried to hold back and let him get what he wanted to get, and it was very hard.
But, I managed to let him pick out most of the things we got.

This is what we got:
  • Ear thermometer
  • A bear that makes sounds that is supposed to sound like the womb
  • A nasal aspirator
  • A 12 pack of white cloth diapers (I will use these for burp cloths)
  • Bottle Brush
  • 3 outfits (One for boy, one for girl and one for either. Yes, I am keeping my receipts!)
  • A tiny little medicine bottle that has a nipple on the end. I don't remember what it is called, I will have to get back to you on that
  • 2 bottles of baby wash (one was the kind with the Shea butter and cocoa and the other one is supposed to help the baby rest better. They are both Johnson's brands and smell delicious)
  • 2 bottles of baby lotion that have the same scents as the baby wash
  • A baby sound machine that has earphones that we can listen to sounds in my tummy and eventually hear the baby's heartbeat. (this will come in handy as Ed will not be able to go to many Dr. Appointments with me because of him working out of town.)
  • A package of baby clothes coat hangers
  • A little plastic dishwasher container to hold nipples, pacifiers and bottle rings

I think that is all we got this weekend. I may have missed something tho. We were really limited on what we could buy because we do not know whether or not to buy for a boy or a girl. So many things are either PINK or BLUE.

As I was looking through the baby department at Wal Mart, I noticed how many different kinds of bottles there are to choose from. I thought I wanted to use the Evenflo, with the disposable bags. But, now I am not so sure. I plan on researching bottles soon to find the kind I want to use.

We also looked at bottle warmers. Most of them warm the bottle by using steam and are supposed to be safer/better than using a microwave for warming. They claim to warm evenly. But, they also take 5 to 10 minutes depending on the temperature of the milk. I am tempted to just go with using the microwave to warm bottles. I don't know that I could listen to my baby scream of hunger for 10 minutes when the microwave did a perfectly fine job with my other 2 kid's bottles. You just have to be sure to shake the bottle and test it before you give it to baby.

No, I am NOT breastfeeding. I did not breastfeed Lisa or Charlie and besides these suckers are too big to pull out in public!! Not only that, I don't want to deal with a pump, leaking, and all that good pain in the butt stuff. =]

I am Still in Shock!!

OK, so I have had about a week for the pregnancy factor to sink in now, and I am still in shock!

I still can't believe that I am pregnant. Do I feel pregnant? Sometimes I do.
  • I get overwhelmed with the feeling that I might barf.
  • I am extremely sleepy and tired lately.
  • My boobs hurt REALLY bad. So bad that when I drive over a bump, I better hold onto them or I will regret it!
  • I am moody for sure!

But, other than that... I feel just fine!! =]

Baby Shopping!!

I don't know who is more excited, me or Ed.... When I got to Ms. Thursday, he had bought the baby a pack of diapers. So, now we have a playpen and a pack of diapers.. lol

I am a little overwhelmed by all of the shopping we have to do for this baby. We need EVERYTHING. I have nothing from my previous pregnancies, as they were oh so long ago. I also refuse to buy everything yellow or green for either a boy or a girl like I did when I was pregnant with Lisa. If this baby is a girl, all will be pink and if it is a boy, everything it owns will be blue.

So, because I want to buy for what the sex of the baby is, that kind of limits my shopping right now. I have been trying to come up with some things I can go ahead and get that does not matter whether or not the baby will be a boy or a girl.

So far, this is my list:

  • Baby wipe warmer
  • Diaper Genie and refills
  • Burp cloths
  • Diapers
  • Baby wipes
  • Baby bed
  • Dresser
  • Changing Table (maybe, I have not decided really if I want a changing table or not.)
  • Thermometer
  • Nasal Aspirator
  • Car Seat

That is all I can think of right now. I have not had to buy everything for a baby in a long time and I am sure I am missing somethings that don't have to be blue or pink....

I will update as I shop. As a matter of fact, my husband just got off work and wants to go tonight and buy an outfit for a boy and one for a girl. lol Ya think he might be excited? We are going to drive to Vicksburg and go shopping at Carter's and Osh Kosh B'Gosh!

My First Prenatal Appointment is....

April 2ND, 2008 at 12:15 Pm

Yay! I can't wait!!

The Doctor Confirmed My Pregnancy and Due Date

I called the Doctor to set up an appointment with him to confirm the positive home pregnancy tests that I took. I went in on Monday, March 17Th and had a urine test done that was positive.

My doctor gave me a due date of November 10TH!!

I also went in on Tuesday March 18Th to have a blood pregnancy test done. I called my Doctor on Thursday to find out that the results of that test were also positive.

The Day I Found Out I Was Pregnant

The day that I found out I was pregnant was exactly one week ago. March 14Th, 2008 I took 3 pregnancy tests that were all positive.

My daughter Lisa had been insisting that I was pregnant because, well I was late. I told her that I doubted I was, and pretty much blew it off.

She kept insisting that I take a pregnancy test. So, I bought one and decided on Friday to take it. I peed in a cup and called for Lisa to come in the bathroom and give me my test. My thoughts at the time were that the test would be negative, and she would stop telling me I am pregnant.

I sat on the bathroom floor while she sat on the edge of the tub and performed the test for me. After about 30 seconds, she starts saying "OH MY GOSH MAMA!!! OH MY GOSH!!! OH MY GOSH!!!". At the time I am sitting on the floor telling her, "You better NOT be playing with me!!". She hands me the test, and it is positive. However, I noticed that the 2 minutes were not up that are required before you read your test results. So, I told her to lay it back down, we have to wait the full 2 minutes.

Once the 2 minutes were up, we looked again. It was still positive. I was in shock and told her to do the other 2 tests that came in the package as well.

The test I used was EPT.

So, I called my husband and told him. He thought I was playing with him and demanded that he talked to Lisa. Lisa talked to Ed and told him we were not playing and that I was indeed pregnant. He was excited, but yet sounded scared that he did not want to get his hopes up and then have them crushed.

Lisa and I were leaving to go to Magee Mississippi that day to stay the weekend with Ed. So, we took the positive pregnancy tests with us to show him. After seeing the tests were positive with his own eyes, he was extremely happy about it!!

Vasectomy Reversal

OK for those of you that do not know, I have decided to share our trying to conceive (TTC) background information with you.

Almost 5 years ago my husband had his vasectomy reversed. His vasectomy was 16 years old at that time. My husband has 3 kids which are now grown, and I have 2 that are now teenagers. We had decided we wanted one together which led us to the reversal.

Once the reversal was done, he went back in and got the thumbs up from the Doc. The reversal had worked and we did indeed have a chance of getting pregnant. Our chances were lower because of the age of the vasectomy (the vasectomy was 16 years old). However, they informed us that the best chance we had of getting pregnant was within that first year after the reversal. They told us to try really hard because the chances of conceiving would dramatically decrease every year.

The first year I charted everything. We took my temp every morning at the same time and I paid close attention to when I was ovulating and my body temp changes. Still, no baby.

We continued to chart and graph through the 2ND year as well after the reversal. However, with no success, it soon became aggravating and we ditched the thermometer and gave up trying to figure out when was the best time to conceive. But, we still hoped for pregnancy soon in the future.

Finally, about 4 years after the vasectomy reversal, we gave up. Just stopped thinking about it. We were not going to have a baby together, and that was that. We were OK with it. Besides, we had a lot going on. Who had time to think about having a baby? We didn't.

Exactly one year ago, my 16 year old daughter Lisa came to live with us. She has kept me sooo busy I have not thought once or even twice about getting pregnant. Shortly after that, Ed got a job on the pipeline which put him out of town 99% of the time. Who would have thought that would have helped our chances of getting pregnant? We didn't. In fact, you would think it would make the chance of conceiving even less, and it probably did.

However, after many weekends in a row going to see/stay with my husband, we did it!! We are pregnant! We had totally given up, and had not thought about it for at least a year.

The moral to this story is that things happen when you least expect them, and vasectomy reversals DO WORK!!

My Pregnancy Ticker!!
